Ballard Blocks
This project is a 45 million dollar, 338,000 square foot commercial building on a two and a half acre site in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. These buildings have transformed the surrounding neighborhood into a community retail area with strong pedestrian connections. The site is next to the Ballard Bridge, near the Burke Gilman Trail. Angela Gee, while at Clark Design Group, was in charge of design process, project management and construction administration for this project.
Ballard Blocks is a certified LEED Silver Project. The project achieved this by utilizing both recycled and reclaimed materials, reducing the heat island effect, energy and water use, as well as making use of a brownfield site. The project includes two adjacent buildings with a 500 stall parking garage, retail use and a health club in the west building connected by a pedestrian bridge to the two stories retail building on the east. An outdoor plaza/promenade is located between the two buildings, providing a clear connection between the retail uses and parking levels.
